DOOR CORE CONSTRUCTION
tubular/solid chipboard
Wood is a natural product that changes its structure with temperature changes, age and continuous force. In order to prevent that under daily circumstances, our doors have engineered cores. Which means depending on the requirements we either use tubular/solid chipboard or blockboard cores, incorporated stabilizer for stability, aluminum plates for resistance or additional materials as well as always layers of MDF (medium-density fiberboard).
ENGINEERED CORE
Our door cores are constructed in different ways, depending on their requirements (sound, climate, resistance, fire-rating, strength due to height/width requirements, etc). As a minimum, all cores have a 2-inch solid wood perimeter to provide stability for factory CNC routed/installed hinges and mortise.
All Bartels doors are factory prepared for and with the hardware that is specified in your order.

JAMB/CASING - DOOR FRAME
GERMAN EDGE: Rabbeted Edge
The factory finished in the same furniture grade laminate, wood veneer or lacquer finish, so there is no difference between the door leaf, frame, and edge.. With a German Edge - rabbeted edge - frame style, the door panel will overlap the casing 3/8" on the "room" wide of the door. This is the standard door style in Europe and provides both light and sound reduction benefits.
STANDARD EDGE: Flush with Casing
The factory finished in the same furniture grade laminate, wood veneer or lacquer finish, so there is no difference between the door leaf, frame and edge. The Standard Edge frame style uses Tectus concealed hinges to provide an interior door panel that is flush with the casing (frame) on the "room side" of the door.
FLUSH WITH WALL - no visible Jamb/Casing
Flush with the wall interior doors is true modern minimalism. Paired with Tectus concealed hinges with 3D adjustability to ensure the perfect fit. Only provided in furniture grade wood veneers or lacquered finishes, the flush to the wall doors is able to be manufactured to 12 feet tall. Available as both an "in-swing" or "out-swing".

Bartels Doors supplies two types of German manufactured hinges with our interior doors

3-part hinge
Deltana 3-Part hinges are provided with our German Edge interior doors systems. These hinges are made of high-grade stainless steel, maintenance-free and offer 2 way adjustability for easy install.
Concealed Hinges with 3-D adjustability
Our concealed hinges are supplied with all Standard Edge and Flush to the Wall interior doors. Tectus hinges offer a high load capacity and a broad range of options. Tectus has a hinge to meet any door size specification, with hinges able to support up to 660 pounds and UL fire ratings.

All of our door products are from premium German manufacturers, the handle sets we offer are no exception. Brands like Karcher Design, FSB, Griffwerk and MWE offer handles that provide the perfect finishing details to your custom interior doors.

GERMAN MORTISE
All mortises are factory routed and provided with premium German manufactured KFV mortise boxes.
MAGNETIC MORTISE
The magnetic mortise eliminates the need for a traditional strike plate. The latch is pulled into the close by a magnet. It provides a quite close, flush appearance and is maintenance free since the latch bevel does not need to be lubricated.
STANDARD MORTISE
A standard mortise box and strike plate is used with all European Edge doors and upon request. Available in different finish options, a standard mortise box by KFV is a tried and true door component that has been perfected with German engineering and manufacturing.
DOOR FINISH
All doors supplied by Bartels are provided factory finished in furniture grade finishes.
REAL WOOD VENEERS
Real wood veneers are available for any of our custom door options. Choose from a variety of wood species all with natural variants.

FURNITURE GRADE LAMINATE
The laminate finishes provided by German manufacture, Grauthoff are available with all framed interior doors up to 8ft. The laminate surface is a multi-layer material. Decorative paper webs are combined with hard resins then put under high heat and pressure. As a result, the laminate finish is provided with a highly scratch resistant surface. Modern technology has provided this process with the ability to recreate natural replicas of wood and painted finishes will keeping a "green" manufacturing process.

REAL LACQUERED
The process of applying the real lacquered finish is not taken lightly. A minimum of 6 steps are taken to complete this process. A combination of manufactured perfection and hands on craftsmanship provides a finished product above all else on the market.
